The chat widget adds a floating chat button to the bottom-right corner of every page on your site. Visitors click it to open your organization's Civilized chat directly inline, without leaving your page.
Once your organization is set up with Civilized, your chat widget embed code is available in your Admin Dashboard under Settings → Widgets. Copy it from there, then follow the steps below for your website builder.
WordPress sites
Install the Civilized plugin (see How do I install the Civilized WordPress plugin?). Once active, go to Settings → Civilized and press the Check Status button to switch the chat widget on — it appears site-wide automatically, no code needed.
Squarespace sites
- Open Code Injection. Log into Squarespace and open your site dashboard. Press the / key on your keyboard, type “Code Injection,” and press Enter.
Alternative: click Website → Pages, scroll to the bottom, then click Custom Code → Code Injection.
- Paste the code. Scroll down to the box labeled Footer and paste your embed code from the dashboard.
- Save. Click Save in the top corner.
Code Injection requires a Business plan or above. For a single page, use Add Block → Code instead.
Wix sites
- Open Custom Code. Go to Settings, scroll to the bottom, and under Development & integrations click Custom Code.
- Add the code to Body – End. Scroll to the Body – End section and press Add Code.
- Paste the code. In the box labeled Paste the code snippet here:, paste your embed code from the dashboard and press Apply.
Any other website
Paste your embed code from the dashboard into any site-wide footer or header code area in your website builder. The widget will appear on every page that area loads on.
